My New Diet [May. 10th, 2006|12:45 pm]
After months of getting too many migraines and losing too much energy, I'm on a new, very restrictive and uber healthy diet. I'm not worried about too many carbs or not enough protein. Instead, I'm cutting out only one thing: processed foods. This basically eliminates 3/4 of the average grocery store. Everything I eat must be natural and fresh. I don't care if it's free range or 100% organic. I only care that it isn't processed, enriched, reduced or chemically produced. Easy enough.

The kicker: this means no soda. I need fairly regular amounts of soda to prevent or curb migraines. The caffeine quickly stops the pain and the soda is easy to drink and purchase. Without it, I'm in scorching pain.

I've been without soda now for only a little over a week. For three days I was in pain. Now, nothing. I don't have migraines. I'm not tired. I feel better overall. It's terrific.

Downside #1: It's freakin' expensive to eat only natural and fresh foods. Yes, they are cheaper for the amount of food, but you have to buy so much and so often. I hate going to the grocery store every couple of days. I just hate it. I have other things that I need to do and wasting time walking up and down aisles is not on the freakin' list.

Downside #2: I now drink so much water that I wake up in the middle of the night to pee every night at least once, usually twice.

Downside #3: The two people who said they'd join me on this diet bailed in less than a day. Sad. I can't eat a lot of the things my friends eat or make for me. I've stood stong against pressure but it does get frustrating having to explain why I can't eat a certain salad dressing or cracker every five minutes.

Upside #1: Pomegranate juice mixed with orangic orange juice is fantastic. Almonds, salmon, mango chicken -- yum.

Upside #2: Did I mention no migraines? Because, seriously, I love not having migraines.

Upside #3: My stomach is ... firm. It's sexy. Yes, I find myself sexy.

Exception: I'm allowed to eat anything within reason from a restaurant. I cannot take the time to look through their refrigerator to make sure I'm abiding by all the rules when I'm eating out. I just can't and I won't. My choice. Plus, I eat out maybe once a week if I'm lucky.

I'm told you have to do something 20 times before it becomes a habit. I've been on this diet for ten days so far. Another ten won't be hard. If I make it through the month, I'll be able to have the ocassional soda or cracker... if I even want them.

I'm blaming the rats [Jan. 28th, 2005|12:44 pm]
Between 1am and 7am this morning, my apartment was robbed. None of my stuff was stolen but my roommate lost his cigars, laptop, computer, monitor, external harddrive, tv, digital camera, and a blanket. Weird thing is, my iPod was on the coffee table and was completely ignored. My iPod is much cooler than a Dell laptop. We already filed a police report and fortunately Matt has renter's insurance but it still sucks. We slept through the whole thing. I haven't even been in Portland a month. I miss home :(

Last time [Feb. 1st, 2004|06:20 pm]
[Current Mood |busy]

This is the last time I am going to write this paper. If something happens to it, I don't care. The file can be corrupted, the dog can eat it. I'm not writing it again. I refuse. Absolutely, completely, 100% refuse. There is no way. NO WAY.

Look, I love college. I love reading and I love writing. I am going to be a kick-ass lawyer some day. But I'm really tired of everything that is between kindergarten and retirement.

Whoops.... [Jan. 29th, 2004|12:42 am]
[Current Mood | amused]

Today I got a text message from my roommate that read, "I need like 10 min to bitch about elisha."

Since I don't think she meant to send it to me, I wrote back "maybe you shouldnt tell elisha then."

We're having a heart-to-heart about her gripes tomorrow.

Busy Busy Busy [Jan. 6th, 2004|04:58 pm]
[Current Mood | stressed]
[Current Music |I Can't Stand the Rain by Ann Peebles]

Only a week remains until I begin my second to last semester of college. This means something simple: stress.

I'm rethinking the classes I have scheduled. Maybe International Conflicts is a better class than International Controversies? Maybe I should take my final Public Relations class next semester? I have no idea.

I'm going to stare at my schedule for a few more minutes. Then, maybe, I'll get off my ass and actually finish my portfolio. Doubtful but I'll try. I think. Maybe. Not really sure.

3) Love my friends. They deserve mucho lovin'.
4) Buy very, very little. It's just stuff. Stuff is stupid.
5) Rate all of the songs in iTunes. I have no idea why.
